Setting up artwork for Print

Set up artwork for PrintSetting up artwork for print is very similar to setting artwork for screen, with just a few extra things to remember. The most important thing to remember is to get a good quality finished product, the work should be put in at the beginning. Good preparation of images makes the graphic designers job much easier.

In order to get the best possible result from your final print, there are a few guidelines to follow when creating your artwork. If you have any other queries please email us or call 0191 564 0220.

Save colours as CMYK…

All our printers and wide format ink-jet printers use CMYK colour to output. If your design work includes Pantones, RGB colours or Duotones we strongly recommend converting these colours to CMYK for optimum results and colour matching.

If you require specific pantone colours please specify these when you send the artwork.

Document Sizes & Resolutions…

We suggest setting your artwork at the following sizes and minimum resolutions

100% size at 150dpi

50% size at 300dpi

25% size at 600dpi

Fonts…

Please either include or embed all fonts when sending your artwork. In the case of TIFF or JPEG files fonts will not be required

Scans…

All your scans should be high resolution and saved as CMYK colour. If possible we suggest keeping scans to a minimum of 150dpi finished size.

Proofs…

If supplying your own artwork we suggest sending either a hard copy colour proof or emailing an Adobe PDF with your artwork. If you choose to use us for your design preparation we will supply proofs either by hard copy or via email as an Adobe PDF document.

If you require a set of reduced size colour proofs before we run to print your graphics we can organise this at a small cost.

Sending Your Files…

You can send your artwork in one of three ways

On disk (CD, DVD, Zip (100MB)
By email preferably pdf file, Maximum 13mb, (please either stuff or zip all files before sending)
Or by our upload artwork page

Before sending artwork it is always advisable to call and discuss how and when artwork will be sent. When we have received your artwork we will provide an estimated delivery date for your pop up display system.

Supported Artwork Formats…

Virtually any format accepted but we would always prefer a pdf file with no security added.

Files may be set at 100%, 50% or 25% size, you should indicate at what proportion your artwork is set when you send it.

There is no need to break apart your artwork into sections for popup display stand graphics, we will do this for you.

If you have any queries regarding artwork set up, just call and we’ll be happy to offer any advice.
